I am Dr. Shivam Mishra, a Researcher and an Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics specializing in natural product pharmacology, phytochemistry, and computational drug discovery. I earned my Ph.D. in Bioinformatics in June 2026 from Singhania University, Rajasthan, with the research work conducted at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad under the supervision of Prof. Nidhi Mishra and Dr. Prabhat Kumar.
My doctoral thesis, titled “In silico screening of phytochemicals from Indian medicinal plants (Punica granatum & Saraca asoca) for potential pharmacological activities and their experimental validation,” integrates computational and experimental approaches. Key contributions include molecular docking, ADMET profiling, molecular dynamics simulations, and DFT studies of phytochemicals from Punica granatum (pomegranate) against multidrug-resistant E. coli, alongside experimental characterization using FTIR, GC-MS, and LC-MS. Parallel work has explored phytochemicals from Saraca asoca against viral targets, including herpes virus proteins.
My broader research interests span structure-based drug design, molecular pharmacology of plant-derived bioactives, artificial intelligence in drug discovery, nanoparticle synthesis and evaluation, and integrative biomedical research. I have published peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Current Computer-Aided Drug Design, Journal of Molecular Structure, RSC Sustainability, and Nano-Structures & Nano-Objects, co-authored a book on Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (2026), contributed book chapters (including with Elsevier), and hold patents related to AI-based systems in healthcare.
In November 2025, I also had the opportunity to visit Prof. Maya Schuldiner's Laboratory at the Weizmann Institute of Science as a Visiting Scientist, where I gained exposure to functional genomics, high-throughput biology, and collaborative interdisciplinary research. This experience strengthened my interest in Israel's outstanding research environment and prepared me to work effectively in an international research team.
I holds prior degrees, including M.Sc. in Bioinformatics and B.Sc. (Botany, Chemistry, Zoology) from the University of Allahabad, an M.Sc. in Zoology, and a B.Ed. in Biological Sciences.
My technical expertise covers molecular docking and dynamics (GROMACS, Schrödinger, AutoDock), quantum chemical calculations, virtual screening, phytochemical extraction and bioassays, and a range of bioinformatics and cheminformatics tools.
I continue to pursue research at the interface of computational biology, natural product chemistry, and experimental validation, with interests in advancing plant-based and ncAA therapeutics and interdisciplinary biomedical applications.
